Agawam Ferry Rides

September 26, 2015 @ 10:00 am - 6:00 pm

Go back in history and take a ride on the Agawam Ferry, named after Pyrrhus Concer (born in Southampton, NY in 1814), who was a freed slave who went on to become an important figure in US History, and left a memorable legacy in the community. It was he who first conceived of the Agawam Ferry, and operated a small sailing vessel transporting passengers from the village to the beach in the mid-1800’s. The Ferry runs again now in his honor and to commemorate his life, and to relive that aspect of our local maritime culture.

Pyrrhus ConcerThere will be complimentary ferry rides on Saturday.
